Furnace Installation Consultation
First, you’ll set up an appointment by contacting us at Green Box Mechanical. Our HVAC technicians then meet you at your home or business to walk through the project. Part of this walkthrough will include getting appropriate measurements for the furnace being installed.
Our HVAC technicians are highly trained and experienced in the installation of furnaces and air conditioning systems. They can evaluate your home’s heating and cooling needs and then discuss with you the many options available to meet your budget. The primary consideration is the efficiency level of the furnace system you would consider.
Afterward, we then discuss with you your specific needs to review furnace options. We finally prepare a quote for you to review providing pricing options so you are in control of your budget.
HOW DO I KNOW I NEED A NEW FURNACE?
Like many appliances or cars, once the cost of constant repairs begins to be excessive, the cost of a new furnace makes more economic sense. In addition, new furnaces will likely be at much higher efficiency than older units which means you will save on monthly energy bills!
The primary difference in cost relates to the efficiency rating of the furnace model you choose. The higher the efficiency, the more the furnace costs but those upfront costs can be mitigated by the decrease in your monthly heating bill.
The primary feature will be the efficiency level you want. There are several types of furnaces that have features that relate to the type of motor (variable speed, modulating, etc.) which primarily impact energy use. Other features such as having a smart thermostat and air filtration add-ons can add increased value and functionality to the system you choose.
DO I NEED A SPECIFIC FURNACE FOR THE PORTLAND CLIMATE?
No. Portland’s climate from year to year can fluctuate. The winters in Portland are relatively mild. Some winters have had much longer periods of colder weather—but that is infrequent. That said, all options of furnace we install will be meet your needs for our climate.
Our HVAC technicians then schedule a time to install your new furnace. We follow manufacturer guidelines and local codes carefully to make sure you and your home are protected and safe. Before completing the installation, we test the furnace for its effectiveness and ensure all proper functions.
You want value for your investment. We work hard to make sure you are confident that the furnace equipment installed is high-quality and correctly installed.
CAN I INSTALL MY FURNACE MYSELF?
No, it is absolutely dangerous to install a furnace by yourself. Furnace installations must be done to code and manufacturer directions. For gas furnaces in particular there is gas line work involved which should only be done by a licensed HVAC installer.
ARE THERE PORTLAND CODES AND REGULATIONS FOR FURNACE INSTALLATION?
Yes, all mechanical trades such as plumbing, electrical and HVAC are governed by state and local codes. Green Box Mechanical is a licensed contractor and all of our work is done to meet all applicable local codes and permit requirements.
